Matt and I recently watched SHERLOCK HOLMES (2009) via Netflix. Neither of us was expecting much, but we ended up really enjoying it. Robert Downey Jr. was his usual brillant self, Jude Law was equally entertaining and the action was, well, jolly good fun. What I didn't expect was to like Rachel McAdams as much as I did in the role of Holme's love interest, the professional thief Ms. Irene Adler. Her fashions in the film (designed by Jenny Beavan) were divine, especially her eye-popping solid pink satin sharmuse Victorian gown:
Then I discovered these gorgeous red carpet photos of Rachel McAdams at the premiere of the film in London wearing an Alberta Ferretti gown looking for the first time like a true Hollywood goddess.

I am enjoying catching-up on some spring fashion reading this week (yes, even though I'm aware it's Fall/Winter 2010 fashion time already!). Here is a vintage inspired spring fashion shoot by Steven Meisel that "springs forward" some classic designs that I found very inventive:

I recently re-discovered the importance of nail polish and how a little bit of the right color on a woman's nails can make you feel like a Lady. I am a working gal and would rather spend money on good clothing, Yoga, occasionally a massage, a nice meal with my honey and yes, my fashion dolls rather than a manicure. I have never been into wearing daring colors like lipstick red or gothic black and have been more fond of neutral colors, so I finally just went bare-nailed because nothing inspired me. Then, recently I started seeing some daring new nail lacquers that re-defined neutrals by adding a hint of color with some shimmer, giltter and/or shine. One of the companies currently re-defining nail color is Butter London:
Butter London was formed by two entrepenurial women - Sasha Muir and Noine Creme who wanted to create high fashion beauty products that were also free of many of the high toxic ingredients previously used. Having lost my Mom to cancer and being a big proponent of illiminating as many chemicals from the food and products we consume as possible, this made me ever more a fan.
BL's nail lacquers are '3 Free' which means they contain no formaldehyde, no Toluene, no DBP. These are are the two gorgeous lacquers that I loved that I have ordered and can't wait to try.

She knew how to be strong and lovely at the same time. Which is why, paired with Fred Astaire, she created one of the most amazing dance duos of our time:
