I had heard that Angelina Jolie was being replaced by St. John in their newet ad campaign, supposedly because she was overshadowing the clothing or something overly dramatic sounding, but didn't really pay any more attention until I saw one of the new print ads with the new St John girl, Ms. Karen Elson:

I would argue Elson also steals the show with her flaming red hair and bold red lips.
The clothing and the ads are definitely striking.
There will never be an amazonian woman as gorgeous as Jolie in my eyes and her St. John print ads are included in my list of all time favorites.
I honestly had never paid much attention to St. John until the Jolie campaign. I have never seen women's fashion look so powerfully feminine.
The change to Elson in the new ads is nothing more than an overall "wardrobe" change - out with the old, in with the new...
The overall look and approach is completely different. There are splashes of vibrant color and attention grabbing textures instead of the softer feminine elegance of the B&W. The feel is very modern instead of vintage and classic and Elson presents a more youthful firey vixen instead of a powerful world-wise goddess.
Even though the Jolie images are still my favorite, I like the boldness of this new campaign and think Elson looks fantastic.
